Review:
The origins of the Cape Point
Hotel goes back to 1977 when it
began as restaurant started by its
current Gambian proprietor Mr. Ebrima
Bojang. In 1984 he built 5
bedrooms on the 1½
acre site, and an extra 5
more in 1985. Over time more
floors were added as well as 2
more blocks which were completed
in 1999.
Opposite the
hotel are conveniently placed
shops, craft market,
restaurants, bureaux de change.
The street side glass doors lead
directly onto the reception desk
to your left. To your right is
the lounge area
all merged into the lobby. Next
to this location is the
air-conditioned Clay Roof
Restaurant which is enclosed on
two sides by a glass wall giving
views of the central part of the
accommodation buildings, the
open-air garden restaurant and
pool.
The place is
essentially non-pretentious
providing basic amenities at a
reasonable price and as a result
get around 10% repeat visitors.
The room-blocks are two floored
with a shaded balcony or veranda
for guests however, these are
not private as it is also part
of the walkway for guest to get
to their rooms. The furniture
within the rooms is of good
quality and are imported mostly
from Spain.
If you wish
to gain access to the beach you
can use the back-garden side
path.
Note: Ideal for
budget travellers and long-stay
guests.
The
accommodation is just 8
minutes by car to the capital of
Banjul.
