Manchester International Airport (MAN) handles tourist charter
flights to
Banjul on Friday, Saturday & Monday & Tuesday during the
winter holiday season in the months of November, December, January,
February, March & April.
The approximate dates are between 1 November 2013 to 30 April 2014.
It is a hub that is served by other regional UK airports with
connecting links from Birmingham, Cork, Galway, Waterford, Ireland West Airport Knock, Inverness, Edinburgh, County Kerry, Shannon, Exeter, London Heathrow Airport (LHR, BAA),
Stansted, Plymouth, Newquay, Southampton and Norwich.
There are three airlines companies that operate on the route which
are:
•
Thomas Cook
Their in-house
airline flies out to Banjul on Saturdays and Mondays. They are currently the
only airline departing on the weekend from the UK. Outbound flights are
charged differently from inward journeys so there is much greater
flexibility regarding the number of nights you can stay in Gambia. To
give an example one can depart from Manchester on a Monday for 9 nights
in Banjul and return on
a Saturday. The same possibility is also applicable for passengers who
wish to stay for 12 nights.
•
Thomson Fly
who depart from Manchester every Friday at 8.25 am between ~ 07.11.13 to
24.04.14. Fridays.
• TC Airlines are leased by the
Gambia Experience
to fly their passengers to Banjul on Saturday and Monday departing
between ~ 2nd November 2013 and 26th April 2014.
By joining Hamburg and Thomson
passengers a given a greater choice of lengths
of stay which includes 10 or 11 days. To illustrate the point one
can make a Friday departure to The Gambia for 11 nights and return to
MAN Airport
on a Tuesday. Another possibility is to fly out on a Tuesday for 10
days and return on a Friday.
