Introduction:
The other ethnic groups in Gambia make up around 4% of the population.

The Lebanese:
This group began to move into West Africa in late 19th century. Because of the Lebanese war there was a second influx of people who came effectively as refugees.  This group is engaged in all manner of top and middle level business activities though you rarely find them engaged in very small scale shop activities as you might see the Fulani in. The vast majority are Muslims though some are Christians.

Mauritanians:
They are mainly engaged in the fields of shop-keeping, wholesale traders and jewellery making and they can be found mostly in the Greater Banjul area and Kombos.

Europeans: (Toubab)
This group (which features many retired folk) is mostly engaged in running bars, guest houses and fishing businesses. Locally they are known as Toubabs.
