Review:
The Badala is a rather subdued place which was erected
in 1991 and designed by Alhajie Sammy Abdoulaye (Lai)
Mboge. Though locally its name means "By the
sea" this is somewhat misleading as it is some
distance to the beach at a 290-metre walk. On the
positive side it has an immense pool as well as gardens
which are frequented by a multitude of tropical birds.
To get to the splendid strip of beach you will have
to make your way through the Palm Beach Hotel where
the local stream meets the sea. Don't worry both hotels
are under the same ownership.
From a fairly massive front gate come parking space,
a thin leafy path makes it way past the main reception
lounge, television screening room and a shop on your
right with the Sunbird à la carte
restaurant to your left. Dine in intimate recesses
and partly screened edges under wood trimmed arches
or in the adjacent eating porch.. The walkway careers
through lush growth and onto the main pool area.
There is a well-liked pizza parlour and pool-bar called
Farah's. It was towered over by a green roofed block
containing Chekeh's Bar and the
"Great Wall" Chinese
restaurant.
Away from the pool tracks lead to 14 bungalows and
2 storeyed lines of bedroom suites. 182 double, 4
single, 5 suites and 16 triple with kitchen; most
come with showers.
Available room rates are for bed & breakfast,
double or single holiday apartment.
