Review:
The Kairoh Garden Guesthouse was established in Tanji
(or Tanjeh) at the turn of the century in the year
2000 in the west coast fishing village in southern
Gambia. The lodge is 25 minutes by car from Banjul
International Airport, 10 km from Kololi resort and
2 km to the beach.
The accommodation allows you to live and experience
African village life up close, interacting with villagers,
while being off the beaten track and well away from
the tourist hotspots of Senegambia and Kotu.
The first thing you notice when you enter the Kairoh
Garden's compound is the atmosphere of tranquility
and a peaceful environment that surrounds the complex.
The retreat has a lot of fruit trees such as mangos
and lemon and are dotted about the garden with birds
fleeting between the trees and bushes.
The rooms at the guesthouse are quite basic and simply
furnished but clean with comfortable beds. Some rooms
have a private en-suite shower room with wash hand
basin and toilet as well as either double or single
beds; this allows you greater variety in the choice
of accommodation available.
Staying in the simple rooms is more than made up for
by the welcoming and warm hospitality of the staff
who are on hand to satisfy your requirements.
The restaurant is in a covered arched porch which
offers shading from the mid-day sun while allowing
you to enjoy nature and a lot of birds just a few
feet away. The menu changes daily and serves both
Gambian dishes and international cuisine as well as
snacks and different kind of drinks. Breakfast is
consists of tea or coffee, bread, cheese/egg, jam
and honey.
Because Kairoh Garden also have a branch in Kuntaur,
it is easy to arrange custom-made trips to various
attractions such as the Stone Circles at Wassu, Janjanbureh
or Baboon Island on the River Gambia. On the other
hand you may want to venture out of the country for
a few days and into Senegal. This can be arranged.
And of cause the staff help you to find your way in
Tanji Village where you can visit the busy beach where
fish catches are offloaded and are either sold fresh
directly, smoked or frozen.
Kairoh Garden is well experienced in delivering custom-made
programs for individuals and groups. Explain your
wishes and they come with suggestions and arrangements.
For example: visiting schools, organize a workshop,
meet traditional healers, etcetera.
Next to that, you can also take part in workshops
and lessons teaching Djembe drums, African dance,
cooking, batik making among other cultural activities.

A 25% advance deposit is payable to confirm your room
