Review:
Kasumay Lodge is a Dutch private development project
which aims to help Gambians generate there own incomes,
so you can enjoy a holiday while helping the livelihoods
of local people. It supports the development organisation
called New Vision Gambia CBO. One of their projects
is to set up a technical learning workshop in Kubuneh.
If you like to help as a volunteer, a combination
of helping and holiday is possible. Kasumay Lodge
will give you a special development volunteer discount
on the rooms. If you would like to know more, send
an email to info@newvisiongambia.com
Are you a real nature lover who doesn't mind living
in simple but clean African hut style accommodation?
Do you want to get off the beaten track. If yes then
this is the place for you. Kasumay Lodge is nestled
just 5 minutes walk to the Gambia River delta where
you can enjoy plenty of sports fishing opportunities,
undisturbed birdwatching or just getting out into
the bush and mangroves.
Trips outside the area of the village are available.
You could go on a river cruise from Denton Bridge,
enjoy a freshly prepared African meal and make your
way along the sleepy river back to the tributary and
your rooms. You could also take a 4x4 vehicle trip
to the nearby bustling town of Brikama where you can
visit the packed market place or buy some souvenirs
from the craft market which is teaming with masks,
drums and other tourist trinkets.
On the other hand you might just want to relax within
the grounds of the accommodation. Kasumay has this.
No noise, no tv, no disturbance. What it lacks in
tourist class facilities it more than makes up for
in tranquillity.
Note: Room rates includes local breakfast. |
