Biography:
Inspecta Chow Panachie (name Momodou Chow) is a Gambian reggae
artist born on the 3rd January, 1969 and reared in his youth
in the capital at Banjul. As the son of a great African entertainer,
one of the most successful artists in the Gambia, Chow is known
to unite the generations and cultural borders too.
After
his musical coaching Chow departed for EU and decided to base
himself in Germany in 1987 to continue his reggae musical profession
from their. He started working as a DJ dubbing and singing over
instrumental versions of popular reggae songs. In the period from
1991 to 1994 Chow Panachie worked with the most popular sound
system in Germany. In 1998 he produced his first single titled
'Ndaga Nehulenam' which was released in The Gambia. It was a huge
success. Then he flew back home in 1999 followed his debut album
called "Smiling Coast" which became another sell out
hit following his nationwide tour of Gambia. The recordings were
done in Westmoreland, Jamaica and Cologne.
Inspecta is a charismatic singer with his own unique style. He
himself describes his music as a fusion of reggae and Mbalax,
the popular West African pop music and creates a whole new style
which he calls ragga, mbalax and R & B mix.
At the end of 1999 he was awarded the best artist in Gambia and
also won the national award for best music video.
