Review: Compared to the cost of honeymoon suites in other countries the luxury Coco Ocean Resort, on Bijilo beach, offers better value for money packages for 'just-married' couples visiting Gambia. They offer a choice of standard suites to beach-facing villas, and honeymooners (depending on options) may also receive flowers, Champagne in the room on arrival as well as a private, romantic dinner on the beach. This retreat deftly blends a variety of styles - i.e. a minimalist decor, colonial influences with Moorish elegance. These include arches, domes, and courtyards sprinkled with swaying palms, complement perfectly with the simple style and elegant furnishings of the hotel. The spacious retreat exudes a meditative tranquillity with its extensive courtyard garden, with fountains and panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, is circled in bougainvillea and tropical palm trees. Being a spa of course means people on honeymoons will be offered plenty of body treatments including massages, facials as well as a Hammam sauna and scrub while their boutiques offer a large range of beauty products.

Review: This boutique hotel is set on a Fajara beach overlooking the sea. It is in fact a converted imperial mansion has individually designed suites to satisfy almost all tastes. All rooms are very spacious and offer great comfort with a luxurious bathroom, living and bedroom as well as your own balcony or garden. Most have sea views while some have their own private garden. Suggested is the new Atlantic Wing of the lodge which is comprised of 5 spacious, air-conditioned suites, beautiful furnished living room, king size beds, exquisite bathroom with dressing area. On your balcony you find your private Jacuzzi, rest beds and a table set. With rooms called Agnes, Boyard, Babeth, Caylani and Dubois newlyweds are bound to find your ideal honeymoon suite. Their restaurant is legendary serving up some of the finest international food in The Gambia.

Review: For those honeymooners looking for something a little different then Mandina, in Makasutu Forest, just might fit the bill. Located by a river tributary, just 10 km from the airport, in its own 1,000 acres of land and away from the tourist areas this unique lodge combines a natural appearance with all the comforts you have come to expect. Note that the toilets are composting types in order to prevent pollution of the pristine waters. There are several options to choose from as there are jungle, stilted and floating river lodges. Mandina is ideal for couples who want quiet, private lodgings for their honeymoon. You don't have to stay here throughout your vacation but can combine a 3 or 4-night stay at Mandina with a stay at any beach hotel on the coast.

Senegambia Beach Hotel
Location: On Kololi beach, Senegambia strip, sea views.

Review: This is the budget honeymoon packages option in Kololi  for those on a tight budget. You won't get the same level of privacy and quiet as at the other hotels above so your best choice here would be to opt for an apartment with sea views. There are about 325 accommodation units so there will be plenty of other guests if you prefer mingling with others and making new friends. The Senegambia does have the advantage of being near the main entertainments areas with plenty of night life if you like to go out on the town.
