Information: Africa
Startup Gambia is a Norwegian headquartered charitable
foundation whose main goal is to develop and enhance
occupations in The Gambia through private enterprise,
use of better agricultural techniques and environmental
conservation.
The organisation welcomes volunteers and charity donations
to help run the institution. On
the founding of Africa Startup charity in 2008, the
emphasis was on infrastructure programs and starting
new businesses and pushing for an enterprising culture.
As time went by it was soon noticed that the main cause
of difficulties was in large part due to a deficiency
of basic education and to bring in new ways of problem
solving. Because of these factors, the emphasis has
shifted to creating two major programs, MyProduce and
MyFarm.
This almost 2.5 acre charity farm in Sukuta is a live-in
education center for agriculturalists, children and
young people, offering stimulating, customised learning
courses from seed planting to business knowledge, recognising
the significance of self-sufficient food security in
an increasingly changeable international scene.
