Background Information:
Legal provision for conducting the census is legislated
for in the Statistics Act, 1972. The Act empowers the
Government's Statisticians to conduct or oversee population
censuses.
The CSD service also compiles data relating to Consumer
Prices, External Trade, Demography, General Living Standards
and the National Accounts.
