Information:
The club's Golf Course section is an 18 hole par 69
golf course which is unusually placed next to the beach
and its greens are more a lighter shade of brown during
the dry season. It measures approximately 4,700 metres
and tournaments are held on Saturdays and Sundays. Membership
fees are around £200 per year and the minimum age to
join is 16 with a handicap. Tourists visitors are welcome
to play for a fee.
Early in 2008 it had it's yearly 'Captains Day'. More
than 40 golfers turned up on this occasion to recognise
the accomplishments of the retiring team captain, Mr.
Vimal Shah.
The Hash House Harriers (HHH) - Tel no: 4495054
- of Banjul are a group of local runners & walkers
who meet here every Monday just before 6pm and is made
up of over 1,000 people.
Other Facilities:
Members can also enjoy a number of other recreational
sporting facilities such as floodlit tennis courts,
squash courts, a swimming pool with sunchairs, a badminton
hall, snooker, ping pong tables, a keep fit gym as well
as classes in Yoga.
Refreshments are available from the clubhouse bar and
restaurant.
History:
The Fajara Club was established before 1937 and in 1948
its location was then in what is now the Banjul Museum.
Directions: Once on the Atlantic Road, from Bakau,
go down the south past Francisco's and the Fajara Hotel
then turn right where the road ends. |
