Overview: The
major crops grown in Gambia are millet, groundnuts,
sorghum, maize, rice sesame, cassava and cotton.
More than one-third of The Gambia's arable land is devoted
to millet, (123,000 ha in 2004), and another third to
groundnuts (116,000 ha). Sorghum, maize and rice (dry
land, irrigated and swamp) account for 15,000-26,000
ha each.
