• Review: With
a cafe and boutique, this is perhaps the
best place to stay in Basse town. It is
a converted colonial warehouse on the
side of the river with a first floor cafe,
2 large comfortable rooms and camping
space in a nice garden. They have clean
toilets, showers and serve hot food and
cold drinks. Birdwatching and boat trips
can be arranged. |

• Review: Located
on the edge of town, off the road to Vélingara,
they have good sized single and double
rooms, though a bit untidy, and next to
an almost defunct nightclub. There is
a restaurant and all bedrooms come with
ensuite shower, flushing toilet and ceiling
fan. |

• Review: The
accommodation is located on the riverside
facing the town, 100m from the ferry jetty,
in spacious grounds. It has a tiny boat
that ferries guests across the River Gambia
for free. The garden looks a bit uncared
for, with haphazard water supply.
There are 48 very basic rooms in thatched
round huts, good meals served. Pirogue
trips can be organised. |

• Review: The
most acceptable of the budget priced options
and based in the centre of town. The rooms
are simple, with fans, but no bed nets,
a bit grimy, with shared bathing and toilet
facilities. It has a large veranda above
a tailor's shop, overlooking the street
side below. |
