Information:
The African art gallery displays unique works in an original building,
selling curiosities and a range of
fabulous, eclectic collection of art, antiquities such as ritual
masks, bronzes, textiles, Ashanti wooden stools from Ghana, West
African jewellery and clothes.
The proprietor imports artwork from various African countries
including Mali, Senegal, Nigeria and Ghana.
As you approach the arts complex the first sign of art is the
building itself! This is a one-of-a-kind structure with the
frontage featuring silver and ochre coloured tubular pillars and
decorated black handrails that adorn the centre.
Aside
from the divers art collection on display there is also a
hairdressing salon and a restaurant called the the YOK Art Cafe.
If you are an African art connoisseur and wish to take home
special souvenirs and antiques offering better long-term value
than the usual tourist craft purchases from The Gambia, then the
African Living Art Centre should be on of you first places to
visit.
