The airline
established as an airline on the 2nd November 2000 and is a mixed
capital company (€10,858, 944), with 51% of its shares held by
Royal Air Maroc and
49% held by the Senegalese Government. As a subsidiary of the
Royal Air Maroc Group it benefits from the experience and
know-how of the group thanks to a well thought out training and
coaching policy.
Senegal Airlines' flight destinations are to the airports
in the following cities: Abidjan, Bamako, Banjul
International Airport, Yoff Dakar, Guinea Bissau, Cap
Skirring, Casablanca, Cotonou, Conakry, Freetown, Lagos, Las
Palmas, Lisbon, Lomé, Lyon, Marseille, Niamey, Nouakchott,
Ouagadougou, Paris (Orly Airport), Praia, Tambacounda and
Ziguinchor.
The airline is seeking to make a name for itself in African
air transportation and meet the challenges of the future by
attempting to stay on the cutting edge of safety, punctuality,
and customer-satisfaction standards.
It has been a member of IATA since May 2002.
In late 2009, a
new airline was announced to replace Air Sénégal International which
went bankrupt. The new airline will be called Senegal Airlines with a
fleet of 4 Airbus A320 aircraft and 2 Airbus A330 aircraft. Operations
were scheduled to begin in September 2010.
